Permanent & Long Term Hair Removal

  • LHE Hair Removal : Alternative to Laser
  • Body Sugaring: Natural & Gentle Hair Removal

LIGHT & HEAT PERMANENT HAIR REMOVAL "SOFT LASER"
Light & Heat Energy (LHE) is a variation of Intense Pulsed Light therapy for hair removal in all skin types. The LHE uses a wide beam that treats hundreds of hair follicles at once, instead of treating hair-by-hair like electrolysis. Because of this, large areas such as a back, legs or arms can be treated in a short amount of time. Today, advanced light systems are replacing unpleasant, time-consuming short term hair removal methods such as waxing, threading and tweezing. Shaving lasts only a few days at best. Bleaching and depilation can be very irritating to the skin.

Regardless of your skin type, LHE hair removal technology works well for just about everybody. Because of advancements in technology, our "SOFT LASER" offer great results for various hair colors and skin types—including all ethnicities.

How many treatments will I need?
All hair follicles go through periods of dormancy and growth. The LHE works by disabling hairs in the active growth cycle at the time of treatment. Since resting follicles must enter the growth phase before they can be effectively treated, an average of five treatments is usually necessary to disable a majority of the follicles during their growth cycle. Because everyone is different and we all have different hormone levels and medical influences, some people may need additional treatments to reach their desired goals. Once we disable the blood supply feeding the hair follicles those particular follicles will not grow back, they are permanently destroyed. However, not all of the hair follicles on our body are active and as we get older, inactive hairs will be active. The LHE will not keep those hairs from becoming active but once they are, we can treat them successfully with the LHE.

Treatments are performed monthly for several months depending on the area being treated, with most areas requiring 5–8 treatments for effective long term removal. Dark hair is particularly receptive while gray or blond hair may need a few more treatments. Smaller areas, such as the upper lip, chin, underarms and bikini line can be treated in seconds. People describe the procedure as feeling a warm prickling sensation. Most areas of the face and body can be successfully treated.

How LHE for Hair Removal Works
Not all hairs are destroyed at the same time. The pulsed light acts only on those hairs that are in the growth phase. As several sessions are done, a larger and larger number of hairs is destroyed. Finally, 80% to 90% of them are totally destroyed.

Preparation
Avoid exposure to sunlight / sun-beds and self tans for at least 3 weeks on the treatment area.
Do not pluck / wax / use hair removing creams on the hairs.
Shaving or cutting is permitted providing you leave 1-2mm growth prior to treatment.
Do not apply any essential oil / plant extract / glycolic or AHA product for 2 days prior and post treatment.

Aftercare
Avoid restrictive clothing or excessive friction of the area.
Avoid applying perfume, body lotions, after shave, make-up or deodorant.
Avoid excessive exercise that may cause heat to build up in the area.
Avoid hot baths.
Avoid heat treatments such as saunas / steam rooms as well as jacuzzis.
Avoid going swimming as chemicals in the water may cause a skin reaction.
Do not lie in the sun or use sun-beds as this activates the melanin in the skin and can lead to pigmentation marks.
Don't rub or pick the treatment area.

BODY SUGARING
The sugaring paste used is a blend of natural ingredients with no chemical additives so there is no fear of any harmful side effects. The application of this unique product will also remove dead skin cells leaving the skin soft, silky and healthy. Alexandria Professional Body Sugaring is much more gentler, safer, and truly progressive method of hair removal for all parts of the body. It is effective on all skin types and hair textures for both men and women. The technique extracts hair in its natural direction of growth and does so when the hair is still in the early growth stage, eliminating breakage, unnecessary discomfort, irritation and ingrown hairs while exfoliating dry skin cells. The result is smooth, beautiful skin without the discomforts of other hair removal techniques

  • Difference between waxing and sugaring. When waxing legs and bodies, you remove the hair against the natural direction of growth causing undue levels of pain. With Alexandria Professional's sugaring method, you only remove the hair in the natural direction of the hair growth. Plus, through the Alexandria Pro sugaring application technique, the sugar paste seeps into the hair follicle. This helps lubricate the hair root regardless of whether it’s on the legs or anywhere else on your body.
  • Sugaring Formulas are 100% natural. There are no chemical additives, no wax resins
  • Sugar Pastes do not stick to live skin cells. With the Alexandria technique, the sugar paste gently exfoliates only dead skin cells resulting in a much gentler sugaring even on delicate skin tissue areas like eyebrows and bikinis.
  • Advanced Sugaring Treatments are economical. Most clients see an immediate improvement, after the first or second sugaring, in body hair refinement and in many cases diminishment while improving the condition of their skin without the big $$$ tag associated with other body hair removal alternatives.
  • Sugar Paste is a lukewarm temperature. No risk of burning your skin! When the sugar paste is massaged onto the skin, it allows the paste to seep into the follicles which in turn allows the body hair to "slide" out more comfortably for a complete extraction without body hair breakage.
  • The Alexandria Sugar Pastes are 100% hygienic. Sugar paste is always discarded after each client is treated. Another great benefit to the Alexandria Sugar Pastes is that bacteria does not breed in high concentrates of sugar eliminating the possibility of cross contamination.
  • No need to shave between sugaring treatments and no need to let your hair grow, grow, grow. The Alexandria technique requires only 1/16" (2mm) of hair growth for body treatments, eliminating the long wait between salon visits and customer frustration.

Preparing Your Skin For Your Treatment
Please do not use a razor or depilatory creams between appointments, as this will interfere with your goal to refine and diminish your hair growth and to have smooth healthy skin. Regularly hydrating and exfoliating your skin between sugaring treatments is just as important as receiving treatment. You will receive the best results if your skin is healthy.
Please note sugaring works best when your body hair is short and is the most comfortable for you. Please trim your hair before your appointment if your hair is excessively long or for a small fee I can trim your hair for you.

Maxamize Results
Consult with your Alexandria Practitioner to establish a routine suitable to your hair growth pattern, so that each treatment works more effectively towards the diminishment of your hair. Since the best age to start is at puberty, we encourage you to influence your daughters to start the Alexandria Professional Body Sugaring™ treatments instead of shaving.

Sun Tanning & Tatoos
Regular sugaring treatments will actually enhance and brighten your tan and you tatoo as well. Your skin may sunburn more easily immediately following a sugaring treatment due to dead skin cell exfoliation. I recommend you wait 24 hours before exposing your skin to the sun, infrared lamps or solarium. You should not receive a sugaring treatment on an area where your skin is sunburned.

Irritants
Do not use perfumed soap or products with chemical irritants on sugared areas within 24 hours of your treatment. Do not apply deodorant to underarms for 12 hours after a sugaring treatment. We recommend that you avoid make-up for 12 hours following a facial sugaring treatment.

F.A.Q

Does the Body Sugaring hurt like a Waxing?
No. Unlike waxing that pulls hair against the natural growth, Alexandria Sugar Paste lubricates the follicles and gently slides the hair out in the natural direction so there is no pulling on the skin and hair breakage. That means no more ingrown hairs with proper post skin care. Regular advanced body sugaring treatments reduce the hair growth rate and that means less hair, fewer treatments and decrease in any discomfort.

Can you sugar someone who uses Accutane, Retin-A or who is undergoing Enzyme, Glycolic or AHA peels?
Because these treatments loosen the skin’s inter-cellular glue and allow the cells to separate and shed, we recommend that clients wait until the initial shedding has passed. Typically, 28 days is a safe time frame, but a patch test is always done to ensure safe elimination after any intense skin treatments before we begin a sugaring regime.

Is it true you cannot remove soft downy facial hair?
With waxing, this is often true. Laser hair removal treatments also do not remove soft downy hair due to the hair’s lack of density and pigmentation But, with the Alexandria Advanced Body Sugaring technique, we can safely remove the vellus (peach fuzz) hair on the face. The face is one of the most delicate areas for hair extraction, because of the dense amount of vellus hair. With one flick, we could remove about five hundred hairs. Since this type of hair sits on the nerve endings, it can set off the alarm in the nervous system. A patch test at your consultation can be performed if you have had a previous experience that gives you any hesitation.

How often do I need a treatment?
Your Alexandria Professional™ Practitioner will be able to help you schedule your appointments best based on your individual hair growth patterns and body part(s) treatment. Hair growth should not exceed 1/8”, but the recommended length is 1/16”.

How should I prepare my skin for my treatment?
We ask that you arrive to your appointment with clean skin without lotions, deodorants or oils. Never use a razor, depilatory creams or tweezers between your treatments, as this will interfere with your goal to refine and diminish your hair growth and to have smooth and healthy skin. Regular skin hydrating and exfoliating between sugaring treatments is just as important as receiving the treatment. You will achieve the best results if your skin is in a healthy condition.

How young can I start my child sugaring?
The best age to start the Advanced Body Sugaring treatments is at puberty. We encourage you start Alexandria Professional™ Advanced Body Sugaring treatments instead of shaving when your child is ready to begin the hair removal process. We are always available for a consultation and demonstration, so that the process is is comfortable.

Is sun tanning an issue following Advanced Body Sugaring?
Regular sugaring treatments can actually enhance and brighten your tan. Your skin may sunburn more easily immediately after a sugaring treatment due to dead skin cell exfoliation. We recommend you wait 24 hours before exposing your skin to sun, infra red lamps or solarium. Please do not come to a treatment with the area sunburned or freshly spray tanned.

Is it true sugaring hurts more when you have your menstrual cycle?
We suggest you do not schedule your appointments to coincide with your menstrual cycle. Some women are just more sensitive at their time of the month, but individual results vary. Many women have no issues with sugaring during menstruation.
